It takes about 70 hours to read the entire Bible out loud. So, that’s what the folks at UCF do each year at UK. We start in Genesis on a Monday evening, and read straight through until Thursday evening, when we all gather to read the final chapter of Revelation together before heading to our Thursday night meeting.

Why do we do it? Aside from the incredibly fun part of it, we believe that there’s power in the public reading of Holy Scripture (I Tim. 4:13). The God who inspired the authors of the Bible still inspires hearers of it today. It’s a foundation of our faith as followers of Jesus, and we are obligated to proclaim it, that some might hear in faith and turn to the Lord (Rom. 10:17).

A little PA system, a night light, some candles (for effect), and a bunch of our friends are all it takes to let the campus hear the complete Word of God in Holy Scripture.
